Welcome to Mrs. Bunn's Kindergarten Class!
Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),
I am looking forward to a wonderful year of fun and learning with your child! Our classroom will be an encouraging, positive, and nurturing environment for each student. This atmosphere will offer many opportunities to grow in academic, social, and character development. This foundation, with your help at home, will be the well-rounded, positive background that will provide your child with the future skills they will need to be successful.
Communication Folders: These folders will be sent home daily. This keeps you directly involved in the education of your child. This folder must be sent back to school daily with your child. I will be sending a weekly newsletter home each Monday to let you know what skills we will be working on for the week and the homework schedule. Enclosed will be a behavior calendar, a bag for breakfast/lunch/milk/ice cream money. A note needs to be sent notifying me what the money is to be used for. A note has to be enclosed in this folder to inform the school about transportation intentions for your child’s trip home. Schedules change often for some children so please write each reminder in this folder. We will not be able to rely on the child’s word about transportation changes. School newsletters and correspondence, and graded papers will also be in this folder. Please make sure to check it DAILY and clean out returned papers often.
Behavior Chart: Each child will have four colors on a behavior chart-blue, green, yellow, and red. The system is based on your child’s choices of whether to follow the school/classroom rules or receive the color change on the behavior chart, both good and bad choices. Blue signifies the best behavior choices, green denotes good choices, yellow is a cautionary indicator to make better choices, and red is a last resort and an indicator to absolutely make better choices. A loss of fun activities will result when yellow or red is received. When red is received a note or phone call home will occur.
Class Rules: 1. Follow Directions, 2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself, 3. Raise your hand before speaking or getting out of your seat, 4. Treat others with respect, 5. Listen when the teacher is speaking.
Class Parties: Any food sent to school must be store-bought and unopened. Please contact me if you would like to send something for your child’s birthday. We will send special notes home for other classroom parties.
We must work together to ensure the success of your child in Kindergarten. I am very excited to have your child this year and I will be there each step of the way for your child and you. I check my email in the morning, at lunch, then before school ends. If you would like to contact me through email, the address is email@example.com. The school number is 757-654-6461 is you have any questions, concerns, or messages to pass along. This year will be a wonderful experience for your child and you!
